SoLaTiDo is a week-long workshop / retreat for Southern Singer / Songwriters, the brainchild of Georgann Eubanks and Donna Campbell who have been running it since 2003. It is hosted by the non-profit Wildacres Retreat Center in Little Switzerland, NC nestled up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have been attending for over twenty years and have written many songs there. As part of the retreat, through 2019, we had the capacity to record our newly written songs while up on the mountain. After that, we recorded a couple of months later at the studio of Richard Putnam who also mixed and mastered them after adding supporting instrumentation, as requested. There were also a couple of years we met for a spring retreat in Columbia, NC near the coast. These songs were written between 2005, the first year I attended and 2025. Other songs I've written there which I recorded for other CDs include: Jupiter & Venus, Mica, Once I Held in High Regard, a half a dozen things, Goodbly Ol' Town, and Jewels & Elephants on "Deep December Dreams;" and Keep on Keeping On, Call to Remember, Whether or Not, and Scuppernong on "Spring."

For a physical CD, email me (maryrocap@maryrocap.com) your mailing address and upon payment I'll mail you an autographed copy.

"The mild, pleasant weather of Indian Summer follows the autumn's first period of cold wintry days. The days become noticeably warmer, but the nights remain chilly. Throughout Indian Summer, the sun shines dimly and softly. The sky turns a rich blue and always appears gently and hazy near the horizon. The air remains smoky and still, with almost no wind. An Indian Summer moon often has a soft yellow or orange hue. Indian Summer lasts from a week to ten days, and sometimes for two weeks then winter begins." This description of Indian Summer is from The World Book Encyclopedia, 1961 ed.; Art work by Bethany Tobin

Spring: The Wind's Story

Mary Rocap

I found myself telling the story of a spring that comes with some wrath: stronger winds, fiercer rains, and nothing promised. Despite that the prayer of St. Clare captured my attention: "Live without fear." May it be so.
