Parker & Otis

CityFolk at Parker & Otis - 6:00 p.m.

112 S. Duke Street
Durham North Carolina 27701
US 919-683-3200 [map]
Price: no cover

FYI, CityFolk may be the name of our group: an accousitic version of Mobile City Band doing more originals and folky stuff. I'm enjoying the process of becoming something new.

The following is a bit of promo:
Friends of Lise Uyanik, Mary Rocap, Jay Miller, Lew Wardell and Charlie Ebel

Has it been too long since you’ve heard Lise Uyanik and Mary Rocap perform a duet?

Lise, Mary, and their trusted ‘sidemen’ Jay Miller, Lew Wardell, and Charlie Ebel have pulled together an unplugged repertoire of classic covers and more than a few original songs. They will be premiering the new material on Saturday, September 26, at Parker and Otis, the café/bistro across the parking lot from Pop’s in Durham’s Brightleaf Square.

The performance will run from 6 to 8 pm, and it should be a great night to sit on the deck, sip a glass of wine, and relax. For those who want to eat a meal during the show, Parker and Otis will be serving their full menu gourmet sandwiches, salads and desserts.

There’s no cover, so bring it on down and let’s have a little music party. Bring your kazoos.

3CUPS

Mary Rocap Music & Wine Social - 6:00-8:00 p.m.

227 S. Elliott Road
Chapel HIll NC 27514
919-968-8993 [map]
Price: no cover

Wine Flights ($14 in advance / $17 at the door) are paired with my baking. Hosted by 3CUPS a wine, coffee, and tea shop deluxe. Here's what they wrote for their newsletter about me and the Social:
Mary is a vital (if occasionally hidden) part of what we do at 3CUPS. She accounts. she raises chickens and brings us eggs, the secret source of our strength. Ever wondered how we could carry nine press pots at once, or move a mountain of wine with only one or two coffee breaks: Mary's eggs. She is also an accomplished baker who can be found at the South Estes Farmers' Markets on Saturdays. And, a singer / songwriter, who performs locally. These are the talents we'll showcase (with wine) at this event.

Bob Mutter will join me on percussion. I always appreciate his accompanying beat.

So, please come, have some wine or coffee drink and enjoy an early evening concert.

And, I'm giving away a CD with each wine flight ticket!!!!!!!!!

St. Mary's Chapel Homecoming

Evening Prayer - 5:00 p.m.

St. Mary's & Schley Roads
Hillsborough NC 27278
[map]
Price: no charge

St. Mary's Episcopal Chapel was organized in 1759 as an Anglican place of worship to serve homesteaders who lived on the well-established trading path from Hillsborough to Oxford, now St. Mary's Road. Services contined in the original log chapel, with exception of the Revolutionary War years, until the existing church was constructed in 1859 from bricks made of clay from nearby fields. Regular services were discontineud in the 1930s and members transferred to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.

Homecoming has been celebrated since 1952 on the 4th Sunday in August.

The group of Women Singers meeting for Evening Prayer and Song that I began with Megan Whitted, Music Director of St. Matthew's, will suppy music for the service.

The service is followed by a BBQ dinner / pot-luck which is always yummy.

from 3CUPS press release:
It's great to have such a diverse collective of farmers within walking distance of 3CUPS. These vendors know each other, see each other weekly . .. but the hours they spend in proximity are a busy, vital money-making time. We're hosting a relaxed social (with wine!) so these makret regulars and their cutomers can come, hang out and talk about food and farming away from the crowds.
